Our Franciscan friars in foreign missions proclaim the Gospel of God’s love to people who otherwise would not have access to the richness of the Christian faith. Beyond nurturing spiritual life, our friars also help in many other ways, living, walking and working with spiritually and economically impoverished people throughout the world.
We believe this mission ministry is at the core of our calling: To take the Gospel where it is needed. To go to the far-reaches of the world where others won’t. To serve as God’s hands, sharing the Good News of love and peace to all humankind.
Our history is rich with examples of committed missionaries: Blessed Junípero Serra, St. Anthony of Padua and many others became Franciscans because of our profound belief that God has called us to serve the forgotten and marginalized in our society, wherever they are.
